Food Adventures: Emmy Squared Pizza!

I’m not normally a big pizza person, but when a friend comes to visit and wants to go to Emmy Squared, you go. And of course, I’m always up for food adventures!

Why am I not into pizza? Gluten and sugar together in the crust most times AND dairy and I don’t get along. But I checked their menu online beforehand (here it is!) and walked in with a plan.

The full Emmy Squared experience

Yes, we were going to have a couple of pizzas to share, but everyone also wanted to try some appetizers. You could literally smell the garlic on these Cheesy Garlic Sticks across the whole restaurant. Boy, did I want some, BUT remember I had a plan, and these were not on it.

Cheesy Garlic sticks...wow what an incredible smell!

They also ordered the Crispy Chicken Crunchers with a sriracha glaze. These weren’t as hard for me to avoid as I knew my pizza was gonna be fairly big…and I’d have it all to myself!

The pizza…the real food adventure!

The gang chose two pizzas to try. First was the Big Ang with house-made vodka sauce, ricotta, double pecorino, meatballs, and banana peppers.

The second was the Big Hawaiian, which featured ezzo pepperoni, crispy bacon, and pineapple with a chile glaze. Ezzo pepperoni is the small thicker rounds that curl up around the edges as it cooks…the “good” pepperoni my friend Brett declares!

Everyone loved both choices, but I still stuck to my plan…

The Larry (vegan pizza on gluten free crust)

Yes, this baby was fabulous! It had roasted cauliflower, spinach, chili glaze (I honestly didn’t taste this but didn’t miss it either), golden raisins, parsley pesto, and pine nuts. I was a little skeptical about the raisins, but the whole thing together was scrumptious!

I guess I’m gonna be calling them back to check that the cheese was in fact vegan…it was simply too good! If they’re willing to share their brand choice, I may be able to have some cheese back in my life!

Don’t miss the fun of eating out

I know I talk a lot about eating foods that are healthy and that treat your body well (whatever that means for you). But if friends are visiting, take a few moments to check out menus online and formulate a plan. The pressure to just go along with what the crowd is ordering may be hard to resist in the moment when the waiter is there to take your order.

Make your plan, stick to it, and enjoy yourself! The next meal you can return to your healthier eating style.

If you plan to check out Emmy Squared wherever YOU are, make sure you see if the menu is different at your location. And if you want to read about more food adventures, try these!
