We’re having multiple wedding showers in our neck of the woods so I’m seeing bridal registries more often than I have in a while. Have they registered for essential medium kitchen tools or are they stabbing in the dark?

Supper emergency? Cooked meat in the freezer to the rescue!
Ran out of time to load the crockpot, not in the mood to cook, eating out plans changed last minute? Any of these can cause a supper emergency (or maybe you simply need a shortcut cooking night). You need the unsung hero of the kitchen! Cooked meat in the freezer to the rescue!

“I could do this better.” That’s exactly what I thought the first time I saw this recipe at Publix (here’s the Aprons recipes link, but they no longer have this recipe online). I gave it an overhaul as it originally included 6 cups of challah bread (and bread wasn’t even in the title!)

Every store has loss leaders…“deals” meant to entice you into their store instead of others. But often, stores are clustered close to one another. Why not use this opportunity to make the most out of your shopping dollars?

You’ve carefully planned your shopping list based on the sales and your needs. Then you’re in the store and see a GREAT price on bone-in chicken!!! At first glance it looks like SUCH a good deal…but is that bone-in chicken REALLY cheaper?
Seems like my “hot button” is 99c/# split (bone-in) breasts. I had to think about it though. I’m paying for the weight of the bone, but I don’t eat that. Then I thought, “What does that meat cost AFTER I take away the bone?”

Morning is not the favorite time of day for most people. We tend to stay up late, and wake up with only enough time to grab a quick shower and some clothes, and head out the door.

And no, I don’t think sugary carbs qualify as a significant morning meal. Been doing Whole30 type food too long to go for that. And why do that when you can enjoy simple fried eggs in 7 minutes?

We’ve all had great plans to cook everything we bought at the store, but somehow things get hidden and not found until MUCH later. Oh, the guilt of finding the “science project!” The key is to use up groceries BEFORE they go bad!

So many berries to choose from…and so many with special sales prices. Of course, there’s no substitute for fresh berries during their peak season, but off season, it’s good to have some frozen ones on hand. There are some tricks though to freezing yummy berries – and knowing when NOT to freeze them.
