Craving more food adventures? Here are more tasty meals we enjoyed at Disney’s Polynesian and Epcot. If you’re planning your Disney vacation, you GOTTA consider these restaurants!
Disney’s Polynesian resort boasts several restaurants, and we tried three. Of course, I took some pics for you…wish I could adequately describe every flavor so you could experience the tastes, too!
‘Ohana Breakfast
Served family style and All-You-Care-To-Eat (or MORE than you care to eat!), this breakfast covered all the bases. Scrambled eggs, sausage links, ham with pineapple compote, Island-style fried potatoes, Mickey and Stitch waffles, biscuits and Pineapple-Coconut bread (that last one didn’t stick around long enough to have its picture taken!) all brought piping hot to the table over and over again.
I think everyone liked the ham with the sweet compote, but my overall fave was those potatoes. Wow! And the thickness and lightness of those waffles amazed me…I stole a bite from my husband’s plate when he wasn’t looking. Oh yeah…and there was seasonal fruit, too!
Trader Sam’s Appetizers
Headed out to Disney’s After-Hours Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, we opted for the tiny Trader Sam’s Grog Groto to grab some grub (that’s a tongue twister!). There were 5 of us and 6 appetizers, so we just ordered ‘em all!
The pic above has Thai Chicken Flatbread, Chicken Lettuce Cups, and Pan-Fried Dumplings. The pic below is the Kalua Pork Tacos, Kahuna Tuna Sushi Roll (topped in pink), and the Veggie Rainbow Roll (topped in green). All were fabulous, particularly if you like Asian or island type flavors. I literally would be hard-pressed to choose just one if I went back.
Captain Jack’s
I guess I wasn’t awake enough to catch a shot of my Wonderful World of Roast Beef Hash the next morning from Captain Jack’s. Even with a sunny-side up egg (I’m not as much a fan), this hash of roast, potatoes, and onions topped with that egg was SO savory and good.
Another long day found my daughter and me looking for food mid-afternoon and wandering back to Captain Jack’s. We’re heard about the Pulled Pork Nachos, and they did NOT disappoint. Fried wontons and homemade potato chips topped with pulled pork, cheese, spicy mayo, pico and pineapple salsa…oh my goodness…in my opinion, this is the must have from the Polynesian!
Via Napoli in Epcot’s Italy
Sadly, by the time we made it to Via Napoli, the photographer spirit had left me. I just needed to sit down and refuel. The Filetto di Manzo totally filled that need! Two beef filet medallions, fingerling potatoes and baby carrots (covered in rosemary butter) with a side salad (they had run out of green beans) left me satisfied but not painfully full. Taste was superb…I’m definitely more a fan of savory flavors.
Disney food adventures wrap-up
The long and short of it, of course, is that Disney has wonderful food overall. I’m sure whatever resort or park you choose, there’s something that will please any palate. Make sure checking out the restaurants and their menus are a part of planning YOUR Disney vacation. You gotta eat…you might as well fully enjoy it!
BTW this isn’t a sponsored post, just my own personal opinion of my experience here.
